Charlo Dalli is a Maltese Production Designer and Senior Art Director whose work bridges architecture and storytelling. For over two decades, he has shaped cinematic worlds for international feature films, television, and high-end productions — from Ridley Scott’s Napoleon and Gladiator II to Game of Thrones, Assassin’s Creed, and Jurassic World Dominion.
Trained in Baroque Architecture and fluent in Maltese, English, and Italian, Charlo approaches every project as both architect and storyteller — grounding epic narratives in structure, material, and light. His worlds are meticulously drawn, engineered, and emotionally charged: from 220-foot floating ships and ancient city streets to atmospheric interiors and water-tank sets.
Over the years, he has collaborated with acclaimed directors including Steven Spielberg, Paul Greengrass, Angelina Jolie, and Ridley Scott, and has led large multidisciplinary teams through all stages of design — research, conceptualization, technical drafting, construction, and on-set supervision.
Charlo’s artistic signature lies in his ability to blend historical authenticity with cinematic emotion.
His background in fine art and interior design gives his sets a tangible sense of place, while his experience in large-scale production grants him precision and efficiency under pressure.
“For me, production design is emotional architecture — a bridge between the story’s soul and the world it lives in.”
Today, Charlo continues to design and direct ambitious visual environments for international studios, drawing on Malta’s unique craftsmanship and light. His recent works include Borderline, Hungry, and Easy as Production Designer, alongside upcoming releases Enola Holmes III, Bethlehem, and The Magic Faraway Tree.
